Mr. Schildkraut
Joseph Schildkraut, who has been
here recently from Hollywood, has, as
might be expected, landed a jo on
the Broadway stage, which he de¬
serted five years ago so that he might
appear in the moves.
The play in which he will appear is
Schnitzler's "The Affairs of Anatol.
which is being revived this time by
Bela Blau, Inc. Mr. Blau says it will
go into reversal in time to appear
at one of our theaters late in De¬
cember. Jo Mielziner is doing the
setting
In the meantime Mr. Blau and his
associates expect to put the late Will¬
am Bolito's still untiled play into
rehearsal this week with Colin Clive
in the leading role and Mare Con¬
nelly directing. And Mr. Blau also
has that piece by S. K. Lauren, Re¬
union," which was tried out last
summer. He thinks that will be
coming to town about the time Mr
Schildkraut is arriving in the guise of
that young Antoi fellow.

AFFAIRS OF ANATOL
FOR SCHILDRAUT
Bela Blau Will Present the
Schnitzler Comedy With
Star in December
Arthur Schnitzlers comedy, "The
Affairs of Anatol," in which John Bar¬
rymore appeared in 1912, will be re¬
vived this season by Bela Blau, with
Joseph Schildkraut in the leading role.
Schildkraut recently withdrew from
the cast of Charles L. Wagner's pro¬
duction of "The Tyrant," in which he
had been scheduled to star. "The Af¬
fairs of Anatol will follow Mr. Blau's
first production, the united posthum¬
ous play by William Bolito, which is
expected on Broadway late in Decem-
ber. The Schnitzler play and S. K.
Laren's "Reunion," a third production
on Mr. Blau's schedule, will go into
rehearsal within a few weeks.

Rumor: Miss Hopkins
The story is going around town
that when Bela Blau produces
Schnitzler's "The Affairs of Anatol,
in which Joseph Schildkraut will
have the leading role, Miriam Hop¬
kins will be one of the ladies in the
cast. Miss Hopins has spent the last
six months dodging in and out of the
role of Kalonika in Lysistrata" with
considerable agility. It is said that
her policy of jumping in and out will
be continued in the case of "The Af¬
fairs of Anatol." According to the
story, she will appear in the play
during Christmas week only and will
then return to celluloid and sound.

Echearsals to Start
Rehearsals of Schnitzlers "The Af¬
fairs of Anatol" begin this afternoon
under the direction of Gabriel Beer¬
Hofman, a young German who used
to be a lieutenant to Max Reinhardt.
Bela Blau, produce of the piece, has
hired Joseph Schildkraut, Walter
Connoly, Miram Hopins, Patricia
Collinge and Ann Forrest to play
Nina Rosa" and pops the
Devil," two Shubert operas which
were dormant last week, will renew
their runs this evening at the Ma¬
jestic and Masque Theaters respec¬
tively.
Five Jewish theaters that have been
dark pending to settlement of an
argument about the wages of the
stage hands and the musicians will
repen on Wednesday night. They
are the Dornton National Theater,
the Prospect Theater in the Broux,
the Rolland Theater in Brooklyn, the
Brooklyn Lyrie Theater and the
Odeon Theater. Molly Picon's Thea¬
ter, the management of which is in¬
clined not to let any of Christmas
week slip by, repens this very eve¬
ning.
Two new producers have leaped
into the fray. One of them is Harold
Stern, a musical director for the
Shuberts. Mr. Stern has written the
score for a musical comedy called
Service for two and plans to put
it on himself in time for an opening
in February. The other is not a man
but an organization. It is called the
Associated Theatrical Exchange and
it has what it call a "trag comedy
called "Wet or Dry," by one Slater La
Master. It is said that this play has
to do with prohibition. What a
trag" is we shall doubtless learn
when the play reaches the boards.

Anatol, the Schnitzer play, in
revival by Mr. Blau and his asso¬
ciates, will probably arrive at the
Lyceum during the week. Other of
the weeks possibilities, without de¬
inite commitments as to dates and
theatres, are "Storm Song, with
Miss Larrimore as the star: Rock
Me, Julie," with Mr. Muni and Miss
Menken heading the cast, and "The
Devil is a Lady," with Olive Borden,
in it.
