Announcement that the Green
Room Club will glve a performance
of Arthur Schnitzler’s much dis¬
cussed play, “Reigen,“ at the Belasce
Theatre Sunday night in honor of
Otto H. Kahn, caused protests and
quick action yesterday by both the
Lord’s Day Alliance and the Society
for the Suppression of Vice, with the
result thaf, if given at all, the per¬
formance will be under police super¬
vision.
John S. Sumner of the Society fon
the Suppression of Tice, wrote to
Police Inspector Bolan, denouneing
the play as “vile'—Mr. Sumner ad
mits he has read it--and said police¬
men should be on hand when it is
presented, prepared to take drastic
action.
He is not concerned with the ½0t

The World artiele gave a brief out¬
